Cal has an active mentor network across campus. Students and mentors are connected through the Skydeck Mentor Network, the Cal Startup Network résumé database at the Career Center, and alumni events hosted by the Haas School of Business, Berkeley Engineering, Startup@Berkeley, and other campus groups.

Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs

Founded in 2012, ACE promotes student interest in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship in China. ACE hosts events and learning opportunities, and collaborates with both US universities and Silicon Valley firms.

Berkeley Connect

Campuswide program that pairs undergraduates with graduate student mentors to build communities around shared interests.

Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum

Brings together students and the Bay Area community to meet with and learn from seasoned entrepreneurs.

Berkeley Entrepreneurship Week

Held in late November, Berkeley Entrepreneurship Week brings together students, alumni and community members for a series of networking events, pitches, demos and discussions geared to equipping students with the resources and connections to jumpstart their startup careers.

Berkeley Innovation

Design group for students from a range of disciplines that offers hands-on experience with the design process.

Berkeley Postdoc Entrepreneurs Program

BPEP provides the postdoc and graduate community with tools, mentoring, and a platform for science/industry interaction to enable research innovations to move into the marketplace.

Berkeley Startup Cluster

Events, networking and community resources for entrepreneurs and companies in the Berkeley area. The BSC is led by representatives of the City of Berkeley, the Downtown Berkeley Association, the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, and UC Berkeley.

Berkeley-Haas Entrepreneurship Program (BHEP)

Umbrella organization integrating entrepreneurial thinking throughout the Berkeley-Haas ecosystem. The central portal for Berkeley-Haas entrepreneurship courses, competitions, student groups, and events organized by Berkeley-Haas and the Lester Center

Cal Founders

A forum for experienced alumni to have confidential and informative discussions about pressing business issues in a risk-free setting (not officially affiliated with UCB)


Student-run health tech incubator helps teams of undergraduate students develop technical skills and navigate the design process to develop viable prototypes and business plans to bring them to market.

CITRIS Foundry

6-month incubator for applied technology startups provides $5,000+ in seed funding, workspace in the CIRTIS Invention Lab, and mentorship to startups developing disruptive solutions for society’s pressing needs. Prototype required.

Delta Prize

2.5-month mentoring program includes workspace, access to a broad network of advisors and mentors, and up to $15,000 in seed funding. Teams must have a minimum viable product and some measurable validation with the singular goal of preparing new ventures to be investor-ready.

Free Ventures

UC Berkeley's student-run startup incubator, providing resources and a framework to build ideas into companies.

Global Social Venture Competition

A global competition that provides aspiring entrepreneurs with mentoring, exposure, and $50,000 in prizes to transform their ideas into businesses that will have positive real world impact.

Haas Venture Fellows

Focused on connecting MBA students to the VC community through hands-on projects, HVF also archives useful entrepreneurial articles and information, and is involved in several entrepreneurial activities and events on campus.

SkyDeck connects industry leaders, successful entrepreneurs, and UC Berkeley professors with our start up community.

LAUNCH:  The UC Berkeley Startup Competition

Accelerator program and competition guides companies from validated product to fundable business, including training, networking, mentorship and cash awards. Geared toward startups that have participated in a Lean Launchpad course.

QB3 Incubators

QB3 incubators provide biotech startups with access to rental laboratory space.

STEM Center for Undergraduate Diversity

STEM Scholars support each other in their academic and career paths. They engage in research, participate in professional development workshops, work collaboratively in academic study groups, and prepare for successful STEM careers and/or graduate school. Students welcome mentorship, internship and job opportunities, and/or partnerships with STEM innovators.

Student Groups

Cultivate recruiting and mentoring leads by connecting with student groups, including Computer Science Undergraduate Association, Computer Science Graduate Entrepreneurs, Sigma Eta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu.

Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology

UC Berkeley's premiere institution for the study and practice of "technology-centric" entrepreneurship and innovation. Programs include undergraduate and graduate student certificate programs, bootcamps, public lectures, and competitions.

The Berkeley Network

Provides networking opportunities for Cal alumni through corporate programming, online education, industry networking events, and mentorship opportunities with current Cal students

Venture Capital Investment Competition

Berkeley graduate students compete in teams of five. VCIC gives students the opportunity to act as investors in early stage companies – evaluating business ideas, conducting due diligence, and negotiating investments – all with real entrepreneurs.
